Blame belongs to Assembly
The Good Friday Agreement was entered upon by the parties on the flimsiest of bases. It was the promise of the delivery of arms destruction for a new beginning in Ulster politics. The leader of Sinn Fein/IRA (Gerry Adams) gave his word of honour on Good Friday that the republicans would decommission their undisputed immense arsenal of war weapons and it was this bold announcement that was the launching pad for the Agreement and what has occurred since.
The services of the most professional police force in the world to date were cast aside and the Sinn Fein/IRA were welcomed into the very heart of democracy with the blessing of Ulster's present crop of incredibly naive assembly members.
The gamble has failed and the IRA have pocketed all their present wish list. And these weak-kneed Assembly members have woken up to the fact that they have strengthened the IRA, weakened the police, sent the army away and encouraged the loyalist paramilitarys to start attacking defenceless nationalists.
Inevitably blame will be heaped all over the place as the life of the Assembly draws to a premature close. Members need to be made aware that they have made the worst nightmare of the unionist population a reality and they that they now cannot blame the IRA for trying to win their war through the normal process of deceit!
