WOMEN WANTED - URGENT!
I am pleased to have been selected to run as a candidate again in the race for seats on Magherafelt District Council on 7th June this year. However it must be said that after representing the Moyola Electoral Area since 1981 and having taken up hundreds of cases for both men and women during that period I am somewhat disappointed that more people did not apply for the candidacy.
I had hoped in particular that the unionist women of the area would have had at the very least one of their number who would have liked to try for a seat on Magherafelt Council. After all, the business of the Council affects everyone when the rates bills are sent out. The original election date was to have been mid-May but this was scrapped because of the foot & mouth outbreaks. The postponement is, to my mind, a window of opportunity for more UUP candidates to be selected to serve anywhere within the Council area and if there is anyone who would like to know more, then they are very welcome to contact me within the next few days.
